When we started Maxxum Photography in 2012 and began offering senior portrait sessions to Kansas City area families, it was our goal to create something that was truly unique and unrivaled. We wanted to create a luxurious and pampering experience that would leave long lasting memories of a special day spent with us creating high quality images that would be cherished for a life time. From the very beginning, our focus has been about YOU, the senior, and making this special year one that you will remember always. It is very important to us that we create your senior portraits for you using your vision and incorporating the things that you love and make you who you are. This is why prior to your session we sit down with you and plan out your session in full detail so that your images are exactly what you want.
The in person consultation allows us to meet for the first time and to get to know each other prior to your session. We know that it can be a bit uncomfortable being in front of a camera, especially if you have just met your photographer for the first time on your session day and they stick a big lens in your face and want you to smile and look natural! Meeting Jodi and I ahead of time will help you relax if you are at all nervous about your session. We are fun loving people who like to make you feel awesome and we promise we will have lots of fun together on your session day.
We want to learn as much about you as we can at the consultation as it helps us come up with new ideas and unique ways to feature you and your interests in your senior portraits. We will ask you simple questions to help us formulate an exciting plan for your special day. We will talk about locations and what options might best fit the vision you have for your senior pictures. If you don’t know where you’d like to go we are here to help as we have many different locations available to us to use. We will go to your favorite places and we can even go to your private property should you have some you wish to use.
Once we decide on locations, we will begin to talk about how to best prepare for your session. Clothing will be a big topic we cover, giving you tips on what photographs best and how to get a lot of variety from your wardrobe. And, we won’t make you change in a nasty public bathroom or your cramped, hot car either. We take care of everything so that you are comfortable and clothing changes are easy. You will also get to tour and shop our fabulous STYLE CLOSET while at our studio to see what we have available for you to wear, if you choose. We have designer gowns, trendy outfits, jackets, vests, designer shoes, floppy hats and jewelry galore. Mom’s often tell us that they love the fact that we provide styling assistance before and during the session. We love to help!
We will also provide you with some tips on how to best prepare for the session so it is a stress free and enjoyable day. We’ll also give you some tips to prep for hair and makeup. There’s no running elsewhere to get it done as we take care of it all under one roof for your convenience. We get complimented on that a lot as well!
Something that the parents tend to like is the fact that we have all of our products on display at our studio and getting to see and touch our handcrafted, high quality products at the consultation helps them start planning for what they would like to display in their home. We have many samples of our albums, metal prints, canvas gallery wraps, acrylic blocks and graduation cards for you to inspect. We think it is very important to see everything in person so there is no guesswork as to what you will receive upon ordering. Getting to see the quality of the products is very important as well. While others offer cheap books with flimsy pages, our hand crafted Signature Albums have thick pages, high quality binding and the softest photo covers you have ever felt. We have many fabric and leather options available too. If it isn’t going to hold up for very long, why bother? We want your products to be cherished family heirlooms for generations to come! We are sure you do too.
The consultation typically takes 45-60 minutes and it really is a great way to insure that your senior portrait experience with us is going to be absolutely awesome. It’ll take some of the stress out of of preparation because you will know exactly what to do in the days leading up to your special day. You can have confidence in knowing that you are going to look amazing, the absolute best version of you for your senior portraits!
